This screenprint was initially created around the theme, "the unknown," and the awkward paper size of 8"x22" was decided by myself before before the theme was revealed to me, I chose this paper size because it would provide a personal challenge.

The design for this screenprint developed from sailor stories during the age of exploration, and there fears they held of the new world they encountered, and the unknown depths of the ocean they all hoped they never encountered.
